My Story
My journey here (the long and winding road)
When I went to university, I wanted to be a psychologist.
When I left, I was a qualified teacher.
Standing in front of a class of teenagers taught me how to simplify ideas, build confidence and communicate with empathy - lessons I use every day in brand coaching.
Later, working in health promotion gave me a deep understanding of what motivates people and what gets in their way - the foundation of all great marketing.
At home with my first baby, my brain was hungry. So, when a local parenting magazine needed a volunteer columnist, I put my hand up.
A spark is lit
That’s when I discovered something new: I was a writer and a storyteller.
So, I founded Human Stories and wrote for publications like NZ Petrolhead, Palmy Proud and Good magazine.
It was a privilege to interview business owners and founders - many of whom didn’t think they had a story worth sharing.
But after years behind the keyboard, I realised something was missing.
Writing was powerful, but what really transformed clients wasn’t just the words. It was the clarity they found through the process of telling their story.
That insight changed everything.
I realised my real strength wasn’t just writing words. It was helping people see the bigger picture of their brand, connect the dots, and build messaging aligns with their values.
So, I pivoted again, from writer to brand messaging strategist and coach.
